How Kit Buster works
Kit Buster breaks tool kits into their individual parts, so you can see which kits contain the piece you need and buy only what you need. It tracks 660 kits and 2135 parts.
Which tools are covered
Kit Buster is not tied to one brand. Any tool line that sells kits with proprietary or hard-to-find pieces fits the same model. These systems are catalogued so far:
- Wera (278 kits): Wera sets outside its named lines: screwdriver sets, insulated VDE tools, L-keys, wrenches and more. Wera gives every piece in a set its own article number, so pieces are matched across sets by that number.
- Wera Kraftform Kompakt (127 kits): Wera's compact handle-and-bit sets: a Kraftform handle that takes 1/4" hex bits and interchangeable blades, with the bits stored in the handle or a pouch.
- Wera Zyklop (102 kits): Wera's Zyklop ratchet sets and the sockets, bit sockets, extensions and belts that go with them, on standard 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" square drives.
- Wera Bit-Check (87 kits): Wera's bit assortments in compact holders, usually with a bit holder.
- Klein Tools KNECT (52 kits): Klein's interchangeable driving and fastening system. Proprietary KNECT adapters come in two interface sizes, (S) and (M), and move between screwdriver handles, pass-through ratchets, flip sockets and impact drivers.
- Wera Tool-Check (14 kits): Wera's compact boxes that combine bits, sockets, a bit holder and a ratchet or handle in one case.
Where the contents come from
Kit contents come from each manufacturer’s own published data: product datasheets, distributor product feeds and catalogs or brochures. Every kit page lists its sources and repeats the manufacturer’s wording verbatim (“As described by …”), and we map each listed piece to a canonical part.
We never guess. When a manufacturer gives only a count (for example “(21) Bits” without sizes), that item stays unmapped and the kit is marked Partly mapped.
- Fully mapped (572 kits): every listed piece is mapped to a part.
- Partly mapped (80 kits): some pieces lack sizes or names in the manufacturer’s data.
- Contents not yet published (8 kits): the set is announced or retailer-only.
How parts are matched across kits
Two kits share a part when their makers describe the same family, connection and size, for example a 7/16" pass-through socket with the same proprietary connection. Each part page notes the evidence for its match.
Images
Kit photos come from manufacturers’ published product data. Manufacturers rarely photograph single pieces, so part pages use a drawn illustration plus photos of the kits that contain the part.
Prices
Prices are retailer listings and deal posts we observed on the date shown, with a link to each. They change often, and the retailer’s page is always authoritative. Limited-time deals are labelled and are not used for the “lowest price” headline when a regular listing exists.
Independence
Kit Buster is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any tool manufacturer. Wera, Kraftform, Kraftform Kompakt, Zyklop, Tool-Check, Bit-Check, Rapidaptor and Koloss are trademarks of Wera Werkzeuge GmbH. KNECT, MODbox and Cushion-Grip are trademarks of Klein Tools, Inc. Other trademarks belong to their owners. Some links may become affiliate links; that never changes which kit we show as cheapest.
